About the Treasurer
Since 1992, Elizabeth B. Curran (Beth) has served as our County
Treasurer. A local native to Caroline, Beth grew up in Bowling Green and
continues to live here. She has 3 grown children and two grandchildren. She
is the 3rd generation of her family in public service to county
residents. Her grandfather, Richard Beale, served as the Commonwealth’s
Attorney for Caroline and her father, Dick Beale, served as Mayor of
Bowling Green.
Education
In 1977, Beth received her Bachelor of Science in
Commerce from the University of Virginia. In 2000, she earned her Master
Governmental Treasurer certification from the University of Virginia's
Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and School of Continuing and
Professional Studies.
Memberships
Beth is a member of the Treasurer’s Association of
Virginia, where she has served as the 2004-2005 President, as well as
on several committees including the Education, Legislative and as a
Liaison to the Compensation Board.
Accolades
Beth was awarded Treasurer of the
Year in 2008 from the Treasurers' Association of Virginia. Beth enjoys
her work in the Treasurer’s Office and helping the citizens of Caroline
County.
