Web Poll Shows People Would
Turn to YMCA for Fitness Needs
A YMCA in Caroline County would fill a void in the fitness needs of the community, an online web poll suggests.
Forty percent of online voters in a poll taken September 7-27 said that a YMCA would assist ages 18-55 “looking to just workout.” This was in response to the Caroline County government sponsored poll that asked the question: “If the BOS partners with private business to construct a new YMCA, what recreational need do you think it will fill the most?”
The second greatest need according to online voters was the YMCA providing after-school programs. This generated 34 percent of the vote.
Other results showed 10 percent of voters said it would be a workout facility for senior citizens and six percent said it would provide a swim team for Caroline High School and also provide summer youth programs. Partnering with Parks and Recreation for youth basketball and camps and clinics garnered three percent of the vote.
A total of 131 responses were received.
Visitors to the Caroline County government website, www.visitcaroline.com, are invited to participate in web polls regardless of whether they are Caroline County residents or not. Only one vote per visitor is requested.
