JOIN OUR PUBLIC SAFETY TEAM
We are looking for special people who have a strong desire to help others and would like to join our family of volunteers in Caroline. No previous experience is necessary. We provide training at no charge for firefighting, EMT-Basic, vehicle extrication, emergency vehicle driver training, and many other courses. This training is challenging and requires teamwork as well as dedication but the reward is impacting county citizens’ lives in a positive manner, often meaning the difference between life and death.
We also have a long list of positions for those who do not wish to ride on an ambulance or fire truck. Assist with administrative duties, fundraising, or put in a few hours a month with building and grounds maintenance.
The Department
Caroline County is a combination volunteer and career fire and rescue department that is responsible for providing fire protection, emergency medical services, and special rescue services to our citizens as well as those who pass through our county. We serve a resident population of 25,500 in an area of 531 square miles bordered on the northern boundary by the Rappahannock River. Caroline County responds to approximately 4,700 emergency calls per year.
Caroline County is a rapidly growing community.
As the community grows, we’re looking for those who can measure up to the challenge of helping others in times of emergency. Men and women, neighbors, friends, co-workers or family members who will devote off hours and some weekends to save lives and property. Do things you never imagined you could do: help during a medical emergency, save a neighbor’s home and possessions or help accident victims.
