Virginia Sports ComplexTucked away two miles down a gravel road off US Route 1, you may not even be aware that in any given weekend Caroline County is being put on the map from visitors at the Virginia Sports Complex. From New York, to North Carolina, baseball teams from across the region matriculate to one of the busiest amateur baseball venues in America. And it is right here in our backyard. I guess if you don’t follow baseball or haven’t visited our facility, you may not know we are here, said Director of Operations Phillip Cobb. We have worked quite a bit to increase support locally. We hosted Caroline County Middle School baseball and softball games as well as opened our doors for winter training to Caroline High School. So we have put forth quite a bit of our resources in an effort to reach out locally, and extend an open invitation. Virginia Sports Complex aerial The presence of VSC can be felt by Caroline businesses each and every weekend along a two mile stretch in Carmel Church where hotels are getting overbooked, and restaurants fill to capacity. We had one business call and ask that we notify them of our events so they could staff accordingly. My only response was our season has just begun, and we hope to get busier, stated Cobb. With an aggressive Summer Camp schedule which includes everything to build a robot in a Mad Science Camp to the University of Virginia Cheerleading Camp, to a Rookie Baseball Camp, Virginia Sports Complex will offer over 16 camps this summer. If you are interested in summer camps at the Virginia Sports Complex visit them on the web at www.vasportscomplex.com or contact them directly via phone at 448-1520. And if you are in the mood for some great baseball action, along with a very tasty concession menu, then visit us on a Saturday or Sunday at the ball park. Admission is free, and the fun is unlimited!
