Debra Holt, principal at Bowling Green Primary for the past four years, will become principal at Madison Elementary next year, swapping places with Principal Michelle Hinegardner. "It gets her strengths over here and mine over there," said Holt, who's also been a teacher for 21 years, teaching pre-k, 1st grade, 2nd grade and Title I. She said she will glad to get experience as a K-5 principal at Madison.

Hinegardner has been a principal for four and a half years, an assistant principal for one, and while in Fredericksburg a teacher and a full time teacher's mentor. A second principal-switch will move Caroline High Assistant Principal Melinda Brown to the middle school, swapping places with Caroline Middle School Assistant Principal Angela Wright who moves to the high school.

In other personnel changes approved at the June School Board meeting, six elementary instructional aids will be laid off. But nine teachers laid off in April are being called back due to attrition and retirement, said Assistant Superintendent Eric Cunningham. "We're still down 27 positions," he said.
