Nearly half of all participants in programs offered by the Caroline County Parks and Recreation Department hail from the Madison District, according to an annual report distributed by the P&R Department.

The annual report covers the 2009 calendar year. It shows that 43.3 percent of participants are from the Madison District, compared to 22 percent from Bowling Green which is running second. The Mattaponi District has 14 percent participation, with Reedy Church at 10.5 percent and Port Royal at 10 percent rounding out the districts.

The report also coincides with growing population numbers on the western side of the county, which includes the greater Ladysmith area.
