FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CAROLINE COUNTY, VA,
August 6, 2010 – The Caroline County Board of Supervisors and officials from McKesson Corporation, a leading healthcare services and information technology company, today announced that McKesson will construct a new distribution center in Carmel Church, Virginia. The project represents an approximately $50 million investment by McKesson, and will bring about 150 new jobs to the County over the next three years.

Caroline County’s recruitment of McKesson began with a lead provided by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, through the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance.

McKesson’s state-of-the-art 340,000 square foot distribution facility will bring to total more than one million square feet of industrial construction in Caroline County over the past eight years.

“After reviewing a number of excellent options in the region, we’re extremely pleased to have selected Caroline County as home to our newest distribution center,” said John Figueroa, president, U.S. Pharmaceutical Distribution, McKesson Corp. “Once complete, this new facility will allow us to more efficiently serve our growing customer needs with the most advanced material handling systems available while providing new employment opportunities in the region.”

Caroline County is contributing up to $380,000 from the County Proffer Fund for infrastructure improvements, as well as reimbursement of development fees. In addition, the Commonwealth of Virginia is contributing grants and training from workforce services valued at $133,000.

“Caroline County is gratified that a Fortune 14 Company has chosen our community,” said David M. “Maxie” Rozell, Jr., Chairman, Caroline County Board of Supervisors. “McKesson is a great investment that can show the way for other firms to choose Caroline County as their business home.”

Headquartered in San Francisco, Calif., McKesson, which is currently ranked 14th on the FORTUNE 500, is dedicated to helping its customers deliver high-quality healthcare by reducing costs, streamlining processes and improving the quality and safety of patient care.
