Foster families earn money for helping others

From the Caroline Progress

You and your family can make a big difference in a child's life.
Those wishing to help young people as foster parents can still register for training set to begin January 19.
Foster parents are paid up to $666 per child each month, more if the child has special challenges.
"We are looking for strong families who are willing to provide love, comfort, and support to children as they transition through a very difficult time in their life," said a Caroline social worker.
"Particularly important is to keep Caroline kids in Caroline County," said Social Work Supervisor Merdis Hudson.
The training starts Tuesday evening, January 19, and runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
The weekly sessions run for nine weeks for a total of 27 hours of instruction. Home visits are also necessary for certification.
To register, call Caroline Social Services at 804-633-5071, extension 114 or 115.
Or call King George Social Services at 1-540-775-3599.
