Family Fair serves up free food, good information and fun, March 27

By Sarah Davis, with Ed Simmons, Jr.

Want to strengthen your family?

Have fun?

And enjoy a free breakfast and lunch?

Then come to the 6th Annual Family Fair! Bring your kids!

It's Saturday, March 27, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Caroline Middle School. Last year’s Fair drew a record crowd of over 350.

Sponsored by the Special Education Advisory Committee, Parent Resource Center, Caroline’s Promise and Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Fair will help with issues now challenging families, students, senior citizens, people with special needs and professionals, with seminars like Avoiding Foreclosure, Behavioral Skills, Color Me Healthy, Language and Social Skills, Understanding Credit & Credit Scores and The Stress of Parenting.

You can also learn how to get the most out of our community services, with vendors like the Sheriff’s Office helping families with law enforcement issues, Caroline Literacy Council with reading help, Headstart for youngsters starting school, RACSB with help on mental health and substance abuse issues, Usborne Books with educational books for kids, Virginia Cooperative Extension with programs for families, Caroline’s Promise with help for children going to camp and Intercept who help with special-needs children. And that's only naming a few.

For your entertainment, the Caroline Middle School Band performs, and the Step Team and Beta talent too, while McGruff the Crime Dog sniffs around.

Even more, there's door prizes, silent auction and free breakfast and free barbecue lunch, compliments of Caroline’s Promise.

Miss Alyson’s Countryside Daycare will look after your kids, keeping them happily busy with "Make-It-And-Take-It Projects" and sidewalk chalk. There are three ways to register. You can call (804) 633-7083 or 633-5088. Or you can email to Susan Qayle at sgayle@caroline.k12.va.us.
