Fundraising for a monument stone at old Caroline High School has gone so well there is already more than enough money for a small stone, and organizer Doc Crismond hopes by the deadline June 1 there'll be enough for a large one, three-by-five feet. The stone will be inscribed "Caroline High School, 1939-1969" and have two cardinals carved on it.
"I've heard from classes throughout the school's 30 years," said Doc. The stone will be installed 10 a.m., Sept. 11, with all alumni invited. "I've had a lot of people say they're going to contribute," he added, which is why he's optimistic there will be enough for a large stone.
Send contributions to Storke Funeral Home, P.O. Box 920, Bowling Green VA 22427 with a memo "CHS Monument." You can contact Doc at 633-5987 or C.J. Pitts at 633-5661.
