Budget Management Top Choice Per Web Voters

Management of potential State Budget cuts and rebuilding the General Fund Balance should be the top agenda item for 2010, according to web voters.

In an online poll taken January 11 through January 25, 31 percent of web voters said managing the budget crisis is the most significant issue County Government can tackle in 2010. This issue nudged out increased efforts to recruit new business and industry, which received 24 percent of the vote.

Twenty-two percent of online voters chose successful completion of Real Property Assessment as their first choice. Reducing Fire and Rescue call times by at least two minutes received nine percent of the vote, and counting every resident as part of the 2010 Census received eight percent.

Public utility management attracted three percent of the voters, and enhanced customer service through greater use of technology received two percent of the vote.

Visitors to the Caroline County government website, www.visitcaroline.com, are invited to participate in web polls regardless of whether they are Caroline County residents or not. Only one vote per visitor is requested.
