Hosting Angel Food Ministries, a merry crew of Methodists gathered at busy Bowling Green U.M.C. Saturday morning to distribute a mountain of boxes of food. Next month some of those boxes could be yours!
Led by Pastor Bill Duganne and Annette McDonald, the Methodists have established a host site for Angel Food Ministries which provides quality groceries at about half the grocery store price. "It's our outreach, our way of helping people during these difficult economic times," said Annette.
Started by two pastors in Monroe, Georgia in 1994 to aid hungry families, Angel Food Ministries, a nonprofit, is now shipping 500 tons of food each month to 35 states. Bowling Green U.M.C. became a host site in October serving 39 people and offering prayers when people ask. That's grown to 59 this month, and church members are encouraging the entire Caroline community to take advantage of the program. EBT-cards are encouraged. There are no qualifications, minimums, income restrictions or applications. Credit cards, debit cards, money orders and cash are welcome, but please no checks. You can also use the money you save to help others!
The food is delivered on Saturday morning once a month to the church where you pick it up. Order ahead of time online at www.angelfoodministries.com, or at the church after Sunday service. You can also order at the church on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30. Questions? Call Annette at 633-5390. She's there to help!
